I hope everyone had a fun Halloween! I really am shocked October is gone already. I've been working on a new theme that involves Twilight Princess more. I loved BOTW and TOTK, but Midna and wolf-Link will always hold a special place in my heart. I played the game and finally beat it with my sister. We've loved it ever since. I think the lore is a little open-ended, so I decided to take that opportunity to fill in the gaps with my own head-canon. These ideas are simply based off my own ideas and what's from the video game. -11/01/26

The end of the Raven’s reign came near.

People gathered for the ancient ritual of choosing their next leader. Many believed to already know the Raven king’s successor. Zant had fallen for the blandishments, and strode around as if already royalty. So when Midna of the Wolf found herself called to the royal palace, she stood patient yet confused. After a quiet few minutes, the sizable doors parted before her. She stepped through and bowed at the back of a chair set before full length windows overlooking the realm.

“Come, my child,” a tired voice floated from the seat. Midna came to the king’s side.

“It is an honor to be summoned, my king,” she said. Silence ensued for a moment, and they watched the Twilight together.

“There is something of great burden I must share with you,” the old Raven started to speak. Midna immediately felt her body tense. Thoughts raced as to why her, of all people, would be called for something of such great significance.

“I have had a vision of the future before I leave this world,” he started. The aged king grabbed his scepter and hoisted himself from his chair. He hobbled to the windows and peered over the currently peaceful realm. The Twili had known serenity for generations now, their previous wrongs nothing more than something to read in history books. The Raven gave a heavy sigh before he spoke.

“There has always been a seed of evil within Zant, that if nurtured, could wreak havoc onto anything in his path. I know he, like many, believes he will inherit the crown. However, he will never be granted such a title as king.” Midna felt a shock, her eyebrows raising. Like most, she believed her colleague to take the throne next. From early on, Zant was catered to as if always destined to rule. Despite this, Midna always sensed something… peculiar about him. As if he hid behind a generous smile and a gentle tone. King Raven continued to speak.

“The crown will pass over him, and rest on your head.” The words felt like weight coming down on Midna’s shoulders.

“M-Me…!?” It came out breathless. The old Raven turned to face her and grasped her hand.

“Listen carefully, my dear. Head my next words,” his tone became exceedingly serious.

“Even though I deny Zant the crown, he will come, and bring a great darkness with him. Peace will come undone. You and your court will struggle through this darkness. But fear not, you will stumble upon the wolf. Aid him, and he will come by your side and support your fight for the realm of Twilight.” The king squeezed the hand he grasped with emphasis.

“He is destined to save more than just the Twilight. You must help him,” he said with pleading eyes. Midna lowered hers from the king’s gaze.

“ I will do what you ask of me,” she replied, bowing her head. The Raven let go of her hand, and returned to rest on the scepter.

“I have arranged everything within my power to aid you in what is to pass,” the king said. A small, but honest gesture.

“May the Twilight drift in your favor, child.”
